Naomi marries her sweetheart!
– Taken Save The Date Magazine January 2020 Edition –
Here we take a wee walk down memory lane to re-visit a lovely piece from our guest blogger, Naomi…
Well, don’t mind the ‘old’ part, I am now officially a wife and have been for the last two months. I haven’t got used to that word yet, along with my new surname and calling my other half my ’husband’.
It’s very surreal but a lovely feeling nonetheless. A feeling I can only describe as warm and fuzzy, and content.
As far as nerves go, I was really quite nervous beforehand. I was really nervous about the service and walking up the aisle particularly. We had quite a big guest list and the thought of having so many people looking at us in silence for a solid hour was giving me nightmares. If you’re feeling like this, don’t be.
We had a rehearsal the week before which really helped settle my nerves and it really wasn’t half as bad as I thought. That didn’t stop me from having a little cry at the back of the chapel when I peeked in to see everyone though. I’m sure we’re all the same at this point!
People will tell you, the day flies by and it’ll be over before you know it. They’re not wrong- it really does go by in a blink. So one huge piece of advice I would give is to really live in the moment on the day. Ditch your phone – I didn’t look at mine once on the day and it was great. There will be plenty of photos to steal the day after.
Another massive recommendation I would give is The Inishowen Gateway Hotel. I could not say one bad thing about our hotel! The staff were fantastic, the food was absolutely delicious, and the day ran perfectly. We felt so comfortable and relaxed throughout our day and the morning after and we can’t wait to visit the hotel again sometime soon.
Hair and makeup were done by Makeup by Julie and RUA by John Paul Doherty. They both were absolutely fantastic and made us feel like a million dollars.
The flowers and all decor in the service and in the hotel were done by Happy Ever Vintage and again I could not recommend this company enough.
We had the pleasure of dancing the night away to The Muddlers Club and when I say danced, we didn’t, along with the entire wedding, sit down all night. The band is incredible, and we couldn’t recommend them enough. One last piece of advice I would give any future brides is to remember it’s YOUR day.
Don’t try to please everyone and anyone. Do what makes you happy.
Don’t put yourself in mountains of debt to try to impress other people. The main thing about the entire day is that you’re marrying the person of your dreams.
I couldn’t write the column without mentioning my amazing husband. I am forever grateful that you came into my life, and out of all the millions of people on this planet, we ended up together as husband and wife.
I’ll love you forever.
Naomi xx
